Following the publication of Alan Milburn’s Youth and Work interim report in May about the UK’s 1 million young people not in employment, education or training (NEET), our results show that solutions already exist that could be implemented more widely.
Mediorite’s combination of training, paid work experience, network building and exposure to employers in the creative sector is moving diverse young people into work while building their confidence and resilience.
Overall, an AI estimate shows that in just one year the programme has saved at least £1.2 million in lifetime fiscal savings to the Government through reduced welfare costs and increased tax receipts of 24 young people who moved from NEET to EET in 2025.
Beyond the statistics, it’s the stories of young people involved in the programme and Mediorite clients that highlight the power of our approach. In their words, we provide creative expertise, a professional service and ability to hit the brief. We have inclusivity in our DNA and offer social value. We have given young people a foot in the door, connections, confidence and community.
As Alan Milburn and our new Prime Minister Andy Burnham begin to look for solutions to the 1 million young people missing from our workplaces and institutions, Mediorite shows that sector-specific interventions with paid work and tailored support really work.
Social enterprises like Mediorite haven’t been waiting for Government reports. They’ve been busy developing solutions. Now we need our contributions recognised with the financial backing to implement at scale.
