INFO FOR EMPLOYERS AND ORGANISATIONS

SHIFT is an eight week work ready programme that allows young people to work towards creating a short film by taking them through the process of Pre-Production to Post-Production.

The course develops young people’s interpersonal skills by working on creative exercises with professionals to increase areas in leadership, teamwork, problem solving and confidence.

The programme includes pitching to live clients and industry experts to network with.

There are opportunities for CV workshops and support with applying for work placements with employers in the creative sector.

AIMS & GOALS

The SHIFT work ready film production training course aims to achieve the following student outcomes:

  • 80% complete course
  • 80% gain work experience in 6 months
  • 70% gain paid work
  • 70% go from NEET to EET
  • Improved mental health and GBO

  • Increased employability using our award-winning matrix
  • Progression routes i.e. NEET to EET

Course Framework

Every young person receives an initial baseline assessment before and after the course. It enables them to identify their strengths and areas for improvement using our KPIs chart and Warwick Mental Health and Wellbeing Scale.

The SHIFT programme also features weekly 1:1 mentoring using our Goal Based Outcome Framework. The framework is designed to support  young people with three goals for life and work skills they want to develop during the duration of the course.

During the end of this work ready film production course, young people are selected for freelance or placement opportunities based on their improvements and their level of readiness.

Our expertise

Mediorite offer a range of tried and tested safeguarded and accredited training programmes designed to help young people develop a love of film whilst learning skills for life and work. Courses range from fast and fun one day MovieMagic outreach sessions, to the 4-6 week beginner’s programme ReelStart Academy, and our 8 week work ready programme SHIFT.

The output of each course is a film shot and edited by your young people! We love working collaboratively, tailoring film briefs that work for you. All programmes focus on teaching vital soft skills including communication, teamwork and leadership delivered by two experienced youth workers each with camera and editing equipment. Our training Alumni have gone on to work at Sky, The BBC, Netflix, Apple TV and Weiden Kennedy.

Over the course of our film production training programmes in 2023, 607 young people were employed, trained or involved in our activities.

Our founding CEO Lucy Ferguson was awarded an MBE in 2024 for her services to social enterprise.
