Video: UCL School for Creative & Cultural Industries
UCL's new East London campus asked Mediorite to produce video attracting diverse local talent to their School for the Creative and Cultural Industries (SCCI)
Client brief
UCL launched their new School for the Creative and Cultural Industries in 2023. The SCCI brings together teaching and research focused on technology, media, history, heritage, collections and conservation, and art and creativity, offering a range of degree programmes within cutting-edge facilities at UCL East.
In order to make sure local young creative talent are aware of the world class opportunities on their doorstep, UCL commissioned us to work with our youth team and two SCCI students to make a film that appealed to East London’s diverse local community.
The process
Our Producer/Director Ava said: “The team at UCL needed to replace one of the contributors in the initial video we made with two students currently studying at SCCI. The mission was to show prospective students the benefits of studying a creative course at UCL and to showcase their new campus. I worked with our youth-led team alongside our in-house camera operator and we came up with some interesting shot ideas so we could make the content fresh and exciting. We also made sure the new footage matched the original video so it would appear seamless to the viewer. We decided to try out some new techniques such as dynamic arc shots and unusual perspectives.
We really enjoyed working with the young students who both studied media so inputted into the creative process. This made the filming more collaborative, and put the students at ease by the time we got to the interviewing stage. “
