We asked our young creative team at Mediorite for their top interview tips for media job interviews. Here are their answers!

Ava Majumdar, Producer Director

As a young creative who has just kind of started on their career journey, a tip that I would give to someone else is to find out what you really care about and then pursue that, because otherwise you’re just going to lose motivation and passion for what you do.

Ibby Onitolo, Junior Editor

I think to a young person, who is starting out in their career, I would say speak to people, try and be as personable as possible, even if it’s uncomfortable at first.

Where I’ve seen the most growth is when I’ve been able to go out and talk to people, make even new friends, or ask people what they’re interested in. People ask me what I’m interested in, see where we can help each other, and just build your own network.

Jake Fairman, Junior Editor

When going into an interview, I think it’s always very important that you’re as personable and as you as possible.

At the end of the day, an employer wants to hire someone that they want to work with. It doesn’t matter how good of a Camera Op or Editor you are, if you’re not kind to work with. Or you’re not able to bring up everybody around you in that team – they’re not going to want to work with you.
