At LBi’s recent Reachout event I had the pleasure of talks from Creative Director, Simon Gill, Marcus Mustafa – Global Head of User Experience Architecture and last but not least:

Part 3: Ilicco Elia – Head of Mobile

Whether it’s apps, maps, love texts or mum’s phone number, mobile is the platform we can’t live without and if brands are going to unlock the power in your pocket they’ve got to make it personal and relevant.

How could this work for charities? Charities have long focused on Direct Debits and while your £3 a month can make a big difference, you pay your gas bill by DD, it’s hardly an emotional relationship! So in a day and age where we have a consumer life and a charity life, can mobile bring emotion to your giving?

The answer is yes and it’s easy to implement – eg  TEXT to give and your supporters can respond to stories that really resonate with them for example.

Imagine if you could make micro payments to build a photo book of images that reminded you of a loved one? Something you could flick through that brings back good memories. Sounds like giving with less guilt! Just a thought.

BTW – It’s likely that your e newsletter, tweet or facebook update will be viewed on mobile so is your content mobile friendly? Think about how many times you scroll your emails from your handset. Get your content mobile optimized ASAP!

So thanks for the words of wisdom, Ilicco and more importantly thanks for the free BlackBerry and the advise on recruiting and retaining young people!
